Movie Critics

Ok, so before going to the movies tonight to see Superman Returns, I read the paper and their review. I was a little skeptical about the movie, it only got 2.5 stars. They said that the movie was just a bunch of sets, lots of special effects, and no plot line. The paper went on to say that the actor for Superman, Brandon Routh, was not a very good Superman at all. Well, after seeing the movie let me quote Lex Luthor"...WRONG!"
The movie did have lots of special effects, and they were great. The way an underground earthquake would effect a coastline city, the space effects, the heat vision, even the super hearing and x-ray was all very well crafted. The whole city effects were some of the best I've seen since movies like Batman.
The actors were excellent choices. Brandon Routh was an awesome Superman. He looks, talks, and walks the part. I remember reading also that they crew was worried if he could handle being on the wires like Reeves was, and make it look real. I think they worried too much. And Kate Bosworth was a perfect Lois Lane. She brought a reality to the part of someone who was dumped 5 years previous very well. Over all it was an excellent cast. Oh yeah, and for someone who claims a Superman title(me), I LOVED Lex Luthor. Kevin Spacey was so good at being evil. He is such a superb actor, I loved the way he can be so ruthless yet so insane at the same time. He brought a comic view to a overpower hungry -bent on revenge- world domination- I am so smart- villian.
Yeah, it was one of the best Superman movies ever. I loved it. The only part the paper did get right was that the beginning was true to the first Superman movies, and it was a classic touch. I cannot wait to see it again, and for it to come out so I can buy 2 copies. One to keep wrapped for my kid someday, and one for me to wear out watching.

Goodbye Love

Last night was a sad one at work. It was the last time I will work with a dear, close friend I love. She starts a new job on Monday for Rent A Center. This is one person I knew I could confide in, one who could calm me down while working, and one that was fun to be around. I know that we will stay in touch, and I am sure that I will see her again, but it was still sad to see her go. I heard that she got shaving cream on her, I helped get orange hair dye ( the spray kind) all over her shirt and down the crack of her ass (my idea) , and this morning when she punched out for the last time, we waited outside to say the final goodbye. And get her with silly string and confettii poppers. We tied the longer strands of confettii to her car, and another associate tied a condom to her antenna, plus got more silly string on the car. When you leave WalMart, we celebrate alot. Just wanted to say I will miss her much and wish her good luck at the new job. I hope she never has to come back to us.

Crack in a box

It was another long night. I still hate work, but then who likes it? We had over 10 thousand pieces total. About 90% got done. I love some of the associates for that. It is getting harder and harder to pretend to like some of them though. I really wish I could just tell them to fuck off, but I guess that is not very professional. Go figure. Any how, I really just wanted to mention that my Assistant Manager and I had a disagreement about who Superman was. I still win. I did agree to let his cute and adorable son be Superman Jr. That is until Kat and I have a kid and if it is a boy, he will get the title. Until he is old enough to decide if he wants it, that is.
I got reminded last night of the associates that I do love, and will miss if I ever get out of there. One of them gave me Crack-In-A-Box last night. For those who don't know what that is, it's SnowCaps. All the white sprinkles when your done is the crack. I love that stuff so much. Her other half thanked me last night too. I was confused until he mentioned a diabetic situation he had last week. He was happy I got him out back and let him regain composure before trying to work again. I told him it was no big deal, my sister has diabetes and I know it's nothing to mess with. I was just concerned for him and was happy to here he talked to his doctor and they are controling it better for him when he works. I guess caring about your employees is good for you, but bad for business. Still wonder why I hate that place so much, and why it is going to be difficult to move up very far in the company. At least I know Sam Walton would have loved me and promoted me.

Long time no blog

So it has been awhile. I was tired of complaining of work, and since I was tired of it, I figured you must be tired of hearing it. So I was waiting for something better to talk about. Yesterday was Gay pride in Portland. It was Jen's first time going. It was lots of fun. I got to go on a mission early in the day and find a pink frisbee from Blackstones for Jen. I had to hike a long way off from Kat and her, but I found one. Jen is still not use to walking so much, and was not feeling good for part of the day, so it was important to get the frisbee for her. Guess what, it worked too, she felt better after that. We listened to music, saw Eliza Monalli, and some belly dancers. It was fun to look at all the eye candy too. After we went to Portland Headlight and had a cook-out that wasn't too easy. We really need to learn that on top of the hill on a windy day is difficult for lighting fires. Plus we forgot the spatula for the burgers, so I tried to use a knife on Kat's suggestion. It worked ok, but I think one of the four burgers got eaten by the grill. The cover almost blew off the grill, leaving the bottom half behind. We decided to leave it behind, it was old for a 20$ grill. It was a present from Kat, but it was falling apart finally after two years(almost) of happy grilling for us. So now we need another one. Good thing they are cheap from Walmart. We went back for the pier dance. It was beautiful weather for it, just not many people showed up until 10 or later. From 10 until we left at 11:15 they had a DJ that played techno. I don't mind it for awhile, just not over an hours worth. So we headed home for the night. Oh, and I got a good sunburn on my face and arms. I say good because it doesn't really hurt today. I bet it will be hell when it peels however. There is only one thing that could have made the day better. More friends.

It's a bird...It's a plane, no it's...

A giant penguin!! I forgot (silly me) to mention the 3 cool gifts I got today. First was the great and mighty Howard the Fish Breath! Howard is a 2-3 foot tall plastic penguin. I have plans to cut a hole in his head and use him as a bank. I use to have one until the ex kept it. Howard is way cooler though, he has a much better name. I also got an awesome keychain. It is a big S symbol of Superman. I have plans for that too. I am going to put my work keys on it and show it off to The Assistant Manager who thinks (quite wrongly) that he is superman. Then late tonight, early morning I got a really cool Superman cup. It has Lex on it too.
This brings my penguins to an uncountable number and memory of who got them. Something about them stealing sanity.......I forget.
My Superman collection is up to......I think 11 or 12. None of these have I bought for myself except one, my hoodie. So thank you very much to all who continue to add to my rub it in the assistants face, I mean, Superman collection. I do love the character and still somewhere in my head believe that I am the only Superman.

Long day

Went to Portland today with friends. I had a fun time, we went to Newbury comics, the mall and wandered, and to the mac grill. Found out they closed the Discovery store, bummed me out. It was one of the few stores I liked to play in where I could learn something too. We went to Pet Co there too and I got ear meds for Matrix. He was unhappy for a little while. I hope that in a few days he will be thanking me by crying less. He has been very needy lately. Later when we got home Zach came over for a little while and played on the ps2. He is such a cute kid and I miss seeing him and playing. I am really glad that we had time to spend today. I got worried about Paige on the way home though. Not to go into much details, but I am glad she is taking steps to be herself and be happy again. She did call a little while ago to let me know that she is feeling better and is ok now. Funny how someone can disappear out of your life, but come back in and fill the void that was there so quick. I do look forward to going out on the days I have off and hanging out with her again too.
So we got home finally and I got to snuggle with my favorite thing. Kat. So it was a good ending to a great day. Only one thing missing. More friends!!!!
