The things we do

I went out two days ago to spend time at the ocean and be with Kat and Jen. Not a bad idea, but I really should have thought it out more. I had been up since 6pm the following night, and it was almost 8am when we left the house. I wanted to ride down to where Kat works with her and then Jen and I were to spend the day in Portland while waiting for Kat to get out. Still sounds good, right? I decided to go to Evergreen Cemetary. It is HUGE. Lots of places to sit and Jen could work on homework while I slept. We headed for the pond area, not usually visited much on a weekday. The workers started cutting grass soon after we got comfy. Those of you who know me know I am a light sleeper. Especially in a place I don't know well. So the lawnmowers kinda disturbed my slumber some. They moved away enough I just started to drift off when Kat texted me. So now I am up again. No problem, I fluffed the pillow some, stretched out on my Superman towel in the shade, and started to fall asleep again. Moms with kids and women with dogs show up. We pick up and move. Jen found a nice spot by the water and we set camp again. Now I have to pee, to much Mountain Dew trying to stay up on the way down. I get back and lay down, close my eyes, and hear little boys running around trying to catch frogs. Yep, we move again. More shade this time and right near the water. Unfortunately it is near the still water where frogs are to catch mosquitos. My legs are still itching from it. So we figure it will be easier to move to the ocean instead. It is now about noon time and I am silly tired bordering on grumpy. Jen drives us to Fort Williams and we get a really nice spot with two tables under a tree with sun coming through the branches. I lay down yet again. Drifting off, starting to dream something about moving pallets at work, and a lady talking behind us wakes me to a sitting position. She eats lunch with a friend and they wander off. My head on my pillow one more time, Kat calls Jen. I figure it is just like at home when I can hear them talk and take comfort in a familar sound. Get to the brink of slumberland when again a lady and kids go behind us. For a week day there was alot of people out with there kids. I think after they left we managed to get about an hour shut-eye, but no sleep. Lawnmowers kicked in again, but were far enough off that I wasn't fully awake to be annoyed, but the sound still kept me up. Soon it is time to go get Kat and visit her co-workers at the store. We stopped at Dunkin to get coffee to keep me up for the ride home. I think I finally laid down around 730pm. Now that it was 25 and a half hours later I got to crawl into the comfy bed in the air conditioner running room and sleep. I told Kat to wake me when dinner would be ready in about 2 hours, she had some errands to run too. I wake up around 1030 when she crawled in beside me to sleep. I was back out until 4am.
I knew at the beginning of the day that I should have stayed home. But I really wanted to go to the ocean, or just get out of the house. As a bonus I got to spend a day with Jen and see Kat more often than I normally do. The things we do...
