Stubborn Lizard
Terran had a vet appointment. Her eye is bad and she has not eaten in weeks. The doctor wanted to look inside her mouth (checking for mouth rot, which tends to kill almost every reptile we have owned) and of course Terren did not want to open up. Tugging on her beard apparently gets her pissy. Her beard came full out, all black, and she HISSED! I have never heard her hiss before and have only seen the black beard once. This was a whole new Terran, one I don't want to mess with. I never knew how many sharp teeth a bearded has. Well, luckily her mouth was only pale, a sign of dehydration. No mouth rot. The doc wanted to run tests to check her liver and kidneys, wondering if an infection set in during hibernation. She explained that if something was wrong inside and had a few months to fester it could be fatal. They took blood, ran a sample of her mouth saliva, and gave her an enema to get a fecal sample. Stubborn one would not take a shit. We waited about 20 mins and then a few more in the waiting room. I was hoping to see some this morning in her cage, but noooooooo. Well, the good news is that with the mouth sample they took there is nothing wrong with her kidneys or liver. The blood sample will be sent out and maybe by Fri. when her next appointment is we will know more. The doc is thinking a parasite or it just may be the eye infection and dehydration. So lots of meds, some special bath time, and lots of love. I think her eye will go, but today she has been more active than the last 3 months combined. Thanks to Jen, without you we never would know all we do now and will learn. Love you hun. And Terran owes you big time. Maybe she will never crap on you. But until then, maybe you could pick her up so the doc can get that sample.......
